Manage allergies, intolerances, diets, and preferences

This article shows you how to add, edit, and remove the dietary information that AlignEat uses to scan menus for you. What you can add to your profile Your profile holds several types of dietary information: - Allergies and intolerances. Items such as peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, fish, eggs, dairy, gluten, soy, sesame, mustard, celery, lupin, molluscs, and sulphites. - Diets. Options such as vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, and keto. - Religious requirements. Such as halal and kosher. - Lifestyle goals and ethical choices. Broader preferences that shape your results. - Flavor and cooking style preferences. So the app can highlight dishes you are likely to enjoy. How to edit your profile 1. Open the app and go to your profile. 2. Tap the section you want to update, such as Allergies or Diets. 3. Add or remove items using the toggles or search field. 4. Save your changes before leaving the screen. You can update your profile at any time. Changes apply to every scan you run from that point forward. Setting severity levels For each allergy or intolerance you add, you can set a severity level. This tells AlignEat how strictly to flag that item in your results. For more detail, see the related article below. Good to know - The more complete your profile, the more useful your scan results will be. - You can return and update your profile whenever your needs change. - Always confirm your dietary needs directly with restaurant staff before ordering, regardless of what a scan shows. Set allergen severity, from mild to life threatening

AlignEat lets you tell the app exactly how serious each allergy or intolerance is, so your scan results can be as helpful as possible. Why severity matters Not every intolerance or allergy carries the same risk. Someone who gets mild discomfort from dairy needs different guidance than someone with a severe peanut allergy. When you set a severity level, AlignEat uses that information to adjust how it flags dishes. A higher severity means the app applies stricter filtering and more prominent warnings for that item. Severity levels for allergies For allergies, you can choose from four levels: - Mild. Minor discomfort that does not require urgent care. - Moderate. More noticeable symptoms that affect your day. - Severe. A strong reaction that needs prompt attention. - Life threatening. A reaction that can become a medical emergency. Severity levels for intolerances For intolerances, there are three levels: - Low. Small amounts are usually tolerated. - Medium. Most amounts cause noticeable symptoms. - High. Even small amounts cause significant symptoms. How to set a severity level 1. Go to your profile and open the Allergies or Intolerances section. 2. Tap the item whose severity you want to set. 3. Select the level that best describes your situation. 4. Save your changes. You can update severity levels at any time as your needs change. Good to know - Setting an accurate severity level gives you the most relevant scan results. - Severity is set per item, so you can mix and match levels across different allergens. - For severe or life threatening allergies, always confirm with restaurant staff before ordering and follow the advice of your doctor or medical provider. AlignEat is a helpful tool, not a substitute for professional medical guidance. Your Diet ID card: show staff your needs with a QR code

Your Diet ID card (also called an allergy card or diet ID) is a shareable summary of your dietary needs, complete with a QR code, so restaurant staff can quickly understand what you can and cannot eat. What the Diet ID card shows The card displays your allergies, intolerances, diets, and other restrictions in a clear, easy-to-read format. Staff can see at a glance what to watch out for when preparing or serving your meal. You can mark specific allergies as strict, which makes them stand out clearly on the card. Sharing your card You can share the card directly from the app. Options include showing it on your screen, sending it as a link, or saving it as an image to share in a message. Showing your card in another language Your Diet ID card can display your needs in a different language. This is especially useful when eating out abroad or at restaurants where staff speak a different language. For full details on the language options, see the related article below. Good to know - Always confirm your dietary needs verbally with a member of staff before you order, even if you have shown them your Diet ID card. A card is a helpful starting point, not a guarantee that a dish is safe for you. - For severe or life threatening allergies, follow the advice of your doctor or medical provider in addition to using the card. - The card reflects whatever you have saved in your profile, so keep your profile up to date for the most accurate card.
